Besides the demands on technological progress, Baumüller
also fulfills its social responsibility. One emphasis of this
social commitment and involvement is represented by educational
facilities, such as the Martin-Behaim-Gymnasium (High School)
in Nuremberg and universities in the greater metropolitan
area of Nuremberg.
For Baumüller, the cooperation as well as sponsorships
in this area are a fundamental stop towards training and sponsoring
qualified upcoming generation in the region. Furthermore,
the Baumüller Group is involved in the social and artistic
area. These soft factors decisively determine the environment
in which the employees are living and working, and significantly
contribute to their well-being and motivation.
Sponsorship of the Martin-Behaim-Gymnasium (High
School)
Joint teaching projects, practice-oriented events in the
school or in the company as well as plant visits characterize
the sponsorship between the Martin-Behaim-Gymnasium and Baumüller.
This allows to support the students in their quest for finding
a job, e.g. through internship options. An understanding of
technology must be promoted. Baumüller offers a mix of
recurring events (such as the Girls’ Day) and information
opportunities (such as plant trips), which are scheduled according
to demand. The Martin-Behaim-Gymnasium receives support, for
example, for the multimedia project or the purchase of technical
equipment.

Cooperation with the Georg-Simon-Ohm-Fachhochschule
Nuremberg (specialist college) and the Friedrich-Alexander
University at Erlangen-Nuremberg
In 2001, the university course of study in mechatronics
was introduced at the Friedrich-Alexander University at Erlangen-Nuremberg
to provide extensive preparation for today’s professional
requirements to the upcoming engineering generation through
training in the area of mechanics as well as electronics.
2005 was the first year that Baumüller awarded the mechatronics
university award for excellent course performances in the
mechatronics course of study. In addition, Baumüller
supports the universities through cooperation for research
and master thesis.

Girls’ Day
Girls’ Day has taken place in Germany since 2001.
The focus is on introducing female students to technical and
technology-oriented jobs. In this context, Baumüller
has been offering predominantly daughters of employees and
female students of the Martin-Behaim-Gymnasium the opportunity
since 2002 to become acquainted with the world of electrical
drive engineering and automation technology. Under the guidance
of engineers, technical computer scientists, and commercial
apprentices, the participants in Girls’ Day can experience
technology or, in the context of workshops, actively try their
hands out on technology.

Teacher in the manager’s chair
The “Teacher in the manager’s chair” campaign
of the BJU e. V. (Federal Association of Young Entrepreneurs)
wants to help bringing the daily routine of a company closer
to teachers by having them spent a day at the side of a manager.
It is intended to encourage them to impart a different view
of economics on their students as well as a positive image
of the entrepreneurship. A return visit for exchanging ideas
is also a component of the event. In this context, Baumüller
has one teacher visiting on a regular basis.

Art in the cafeteria
Since 2002, Baumüller offers artists from the Nuremberg
region the opportunity of exhibiting their works in the company’s
cafeteria. It allows employees and external parties interested
in art to visit art in an industrial environment. The exhibition
opens up the company to the outside world and deliberately
exercises responsibility in a social context.
Klabautermann e. V.
Support for chronically ill children and their families
is offered by Klabautermann e.V. (registered society). Baumüller
supports the society in the pursuit of its important work
through donations.

Children and Youth Center Stapf
In 1954, the Children and Youth Center Stapf under the trusteeship
of Caritas Nuremberg was officially opened with the purpose
of providing help to children, youth, young adults and families
in various situations of life. Baumüller supports the
institution with donations for remedial residents and children
with multiple disabilities.
