| Automation technology and system
solutions from a single source – No. 5/2008
Baumüller will be represented at the Interpack 2008
Nuremberg. Baumüller will again be represented at the
Interpack 2008 in Dusseldorf. From April 24 to 30, system
solutions for the packaging industry will be showcased to
trade visitors in Hall 11, Stand 11F04.
Baumüller will display a wide product portfolio in Hall
11, Stand 11F04: As well as linear axles and a wide range
of converters from the b maXX series, Baumüller will
also use various technology modules to showcase key machine
functions in the form of software modules. Together with intelligent
drives from Baumüller, the technology modules guarantee
future-oriented and flexible systems and machines.
Software template for bag forming, filling and sealing
machines
Baumüller has developed a fully structured, comprehensible
and executable application software for standard bag forming,
filling and sealing machines. The software is used to display
the machine mechanics and its function in the control. As
with the mechanical design, the software’s key feature
is its modularity: It is made up of basic functionalities,
which can be linked if needed. It takes only the setting of
a few parameters to adapt the finished basic functionalities
to the mechanics.
The software template for bag forming, filling and sealing
machines is based on a system concept: The user merely has
to enter the necessary machine-related parameters, thereby
allowing him to quickly and easily modify and expand machine
functionality.
Technology modules result in flexible systems
With its various technology modules, Baumüller provides
key machine functions in the form of software modules. Together
with drives, these provide flexible systems and machines.
Each module has an individual automation module made up of
a control, a drive amplifier and a motor. Baumüller will
present the cross-cutter as an example of an elementary module.
This consists of a synchronous drive with compensation positioning
of a slave axis in relation to a master axis. The slave axis
for the cross-cutter is linked to the virtual master or can
be read in via a real master in the form of a shaft encoder.
Partner for packaging and handling
Product formats within the packaging industry change rapidly.
The short change interval and the start/stop operation demand
high standards of the machines and their operation. Dynamic
performance and power densitygo hand in hand, both in the
packaging industry as well as with DSD, the dynamic range
of motors from Baumüller. The DSD range of motors provides
the best acceleration characteristics. The improved power
density and increased overload capability makes the DSD series
an ideal motor for packaging machines.
As a partner in the technology industry, Baumüller delivers
not only motors but also dynamic controllers and technology
modules such as cam disks or synchronization functions, which
guarantee production with repeatable accuracy at high chopping
rates.
