| Baumüller to present new ideas
for the automation industry of 2010 – No. 6/2009
In four different zones covering a total area of about 300
square meters, Baumüller will present a complete range
of products
Nuremberg. The focus of attention of Baumüller at the
2009 Hannover Messe (Hall 14, Booth H10) will be on topics
affecting the automation industry of 2010: energy efficiency,
safety, engineering, and services.
In four different zones covering a total area of about 300
square meters, Baumüller will present a complete range
of products providing energy efficiency, safety, engineering,
and services for the full range of drive engineering applications.
Efficiency Zone
The demand for energy-efficient and, consequently, cost-saving
equipment is increasing all the time. The decisive factor
when it comes to a machine’s life-cycle costs (LCC)
is not usually the purchase price, but the follow-up costs
that arise throughout the machine’s service life. In
its Efficiency Zone in Hall 14, Booth H10, Baumüller
– a system partner for the automation sector –
will exhibit solutions for the machine’s entire life
cycle that can help to significantly reduce the LCC.
In addition, the specialist in electrical automation and
drive systems will present the DST motor generation. These
synchronous motors offer a higher power density, in addition
to a wider range of available speeds and torques. Extension
of the motor series to include a 400-size motor means that,
for the first time, rated torques up to 20,000 Nm and maximum
torques up to 32,000 Nm are possible. Compared to conventional
motor-gearbox combinations, direct drives can also improve
cost and energy efficiency: elimination of wear-prone mechanical
components in the drive significantly reduces friction losses
in the system, thus improving the energy balance.
Safety Zone
Seldom has the automation industry been so active in the
area of safety engineering. The reason for this is the new
Machinery Directive that will come into effect as of December
29, 2009. In order to meet the stringent requirements for
machine and equipment safety, Baumüller’s Safety
Zone will exhibit efficient safety solutions that can be scaled
for the respective application.
Engineering Zone
In its Engineering Zone, the Nuremberg company will present
the ProMaster Engineering Framework: in order to ensure maximum
productivity during manufacturing, today's complex machine
functions must be reproduced in the application software.
The ProMaster Engineering Framework relieves the programmer
during software development and commissioning. This means
that the programmer can focus his full attention on the main
task – the functional mapping of machine functions.
This increases the cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency
significantly.
Advanced Automation Zone
Hannover Messe visitors to the Advanced Automation Zone will
gain insight into the many possible uses of Baumüller
products. Medical engineering applications will be shown,
as well as possible applications in the automotive and robotics
industries. In addition, subsidiary Baumüller Anlagen-Systemtechnik
GmbH & Co.KG will present customized sheet metal and wiring
solutions and provide insight into their system expertise.
In addition to project planning, support is provided to customers
over the entire life cycle for activities ranging from commissioning
to servicing of equipment.
