| New generation of the
tried and tested servo-converter – Nr. 10/2011
(28.11.2011)
The new b maXX 3300: more compact, more safe, more economical
Nuremberg. "be in motion" –
Baumüller has developed the tried and tested b maXX 3400
servo-controller further precisely in accordance with this
motto and is therefore presenting the new generation of high-quality
servo-controllers for small drives in two sizes and with the
optional manual operating unit in this new b maXX 3300. Compactness,
high levels of dynamics and energy efficiency are the significant
characteristics of this new servo-converter.
As was the predecessor b maXX 3400, the new b maXX 3300 has
been designed with an integrated position regulation for the
lower power range, up to five kilowatts, for example for applications
in the fields of packaging, textiles, robotics and material
handling. Baumüller customers will, in the future, benefit
particularly from the compact design. Another innovation is
the implementation of the safe torque switch-off facility,
referred to as STO (Safe Torque Off) in brief. This function
ensures that, in the event of an emergency, the supply of
energy is stopped, and thus a rotary torque force is not created.
Consideration of the guidelines EN ISO 13849 and EN 62061
by integrated safety up to SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level)
and PL e (Performance Level) means that "Safety first"
is no longer just a notional concept, but rather it is realised
in the b maXX 3300.
The user continues to benefit from field-oriented regulation
providing exceptional concentricity and higher level speed
and position regulation for dynamic and precise positioning.
The b maXX 3300 is designed, as was its predecessor, for operation
with servo-motors DSD and DSC, up to size 100, and the Baumüller
disc and linear motor ranges, amongst others. The cycle time
for applications and thus the production rate of machines
and installations is increased.
This increases the benefit for the customer, particularly
in the packaging and textile industries and in the small robot
and materials handling sectors. The environment benefits from
the higher cycle frequencies up to 16 kilohertz, which facilitate
more precise regulation and which considerably reduce noise
emission from the machine and thus reduce environmental loading.
The manual operating unit, available as an option for the
b maXX 3300, allows the user full access to all parameters,
without the need for ancillary external components such as
a PC and software. This facilitates both rapid service access
and uploads and downloads of data sets.
The b maXX 3300, along with all the converters in the b maXX
range, facilitates demand-compliant design of the drive system.
The consistency with the b maXX regulators 4000 and 5000 underscores
this characteristic. The parametrising software ProDrive in
the Engineering Framework ProMaster provides for convenient
parametrisation.
