Baumüller Reparaturwerk and SKF Spindle Service are bundling their expertise in maintenance service.

Nuremberg. Baumüller Reparaturwerk and SKF Spindle Service merged at the beginning of August into a maintenance team in the spindle service sector. In future, Baumüller Reparaturwerk in cooperation with SKF will offer services for complete machine tools. It is also planned to extend the cooperation into other areas.

Wear on machine tool spindles can lead to inferior product quality or even to a machine breakdown. Yet, mere maintenance of spindles is not sufficient: “To attain full performance, the machine must be in an outstanding condition and optimally tuned to the reconditioned spindle. That is why with Baumüller Reparaturwerk and SKF Spindle Service two leading companies in the maintenance sector are joining forces and bundling their respective core competences into one overall service spectrum. This is how we assist customers to attain optimum manufacturing quality”, explains Wolfgang Aust, manager of SKF Spindle Service Center in Schweinfurt.

The cooperation of the two companies was achieved rather quickly since both partners have the same philosophy: They not only offer simple repair services but also place emphasis on the analysis of possible causes that could lead to a breakdown, and, if necessary, to carry out optimization to prevent faults recurring.

Also Ralf Dietrich, manager of Baumüller Reparaturwerk, is convinced that this is an ideal partnership: “By integrating the expertise of SKF Spindle Service into our service portfolio we will be able to comprehensively service machine tools in the future. From maintenance of electric motors, drive electronics and controls up to the optimization of spindles we offer all services from the one source. Our main objective above all is: Greater machine availability for our customers.“
