Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e. V. (ZVEI) (“central association of the electrical engineering and electronics industry”) represents interests related to the economy, technology and environmental politics of the German electrical industry on a domestic and international level. Baumüller is one of about 1400 companies that are included in ZVEI.
As the chairman in the field of electrical drives in the automation trade association, Günter Baumüller is the leading representative of the member company Baumüller. The employees of Baumüller are active in numerous committees.
About 3000 mainly medium-sized companies are united in VDMA – Verband deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e. V. (“association of German machine and system construction”).
Baumüller’s employees share their experiences in the central work group for personnel, the work group for control engineering and the central committee for purchasing + materials administration. Baumüller is also represented in the state-level experience exchange groups for young entrepreneurs, controlling / business administration, purchasing / materials administration, personnel management and production / fabrication.
The Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Nuremberg for Middle Franconia represents the interests of its member companies in all economic and transport-policy issues to politicians and managers.
Representatives of Baumüller are collaborating in the committees for industry, research and technology as well as economy and foreign trade. Baumüller is also represented in the “Environment” and “Law” committees.
Baumüller is member of the competence for packaging and automation technology Packaging Excellence Center (PEC). PEC is the largest competence center for packaging technology in Europe. Its goal is to be an interface between industry and science and to enhance the exchange of experiences and the bundling of know-how. The PEC furthermore organizes Workshops, forums, seminars etc., supports it's members in the innovation process and initiates cooperations for members and others.
The German Electrotechnology Association (VDE) is an association for electrical engineering, electronics and information technology, their sciences, and the technologies and applications that are based on these. With its 34,000 members, the association is one of the major technical and scientific associations in Europe.
Baumüller Nürnberg GmbH is a corporate member in VDE’s regional association for North Bavaria and participates in VDE’s committee for drive technologies of the Energietechnische Gesellschaft (“energy technology society”).
SPS/IPC/DRIVES is the trade fair for electrical automation technology. It comprises all of the components up to the full system and offers integrated automation solutions.
Baumüller is not just an exhibitor but also represented in the DRIVES Congress. Andreas Baumüller is also a member of the exhibition advisory board.
Forschungsvereinigung Antriebstechnik (“research association for drive technology”) has 160 member companies by now. It was founded to give especially smaller companies the opportunity to improve their technical expertise and product quality through communal research, while also lowering their production costs.
Baumüller is an active member in the research association with its company and its staff.
VBM, Verband der Bayerischen Metall- und Elektro-Industrie e.V. (“association of the Bavarian metal and electrical industry”) represents company members that operate mainly in the metal and electrical sectors.
Baumüller Nürnberg GmbH is a member in VBM and its staff is also active in the business and personnel management group as well as in the Metalpool PLUS initiative.
Arbeitskreis Software-Qualität und -Fortbildung e. V. (“workgroup for software quality and education”) focuses on the software quality in industry, research and education in the entire German-language region.
Baumüller is a company member in ASQF and actively represented in the steering committee for the automation group. In ASQF, more than 1,100 members discuss their experiences, knowledge and ideas in the field of software development and quality management. It organizes an Automation Day, which is supported by Baumüller.
In a national comparison, North Bavaria has a top position in the area of automation technology. In the Nuremberg area alone, 20,000 employees work in more than 200 companies in this sector – this corresponds to about ten percent of all German jobs in this field.
The “Automation Valley” initiative bundles this regional research and development competence in automation technology. Baumüller is a founding member of the “Automation Valley“.
About 385 member companies are combined in the international manufacturer and user association Controller Area Network in Automation GmbH. This organization has dedicated itself to the dissemination and standardization of the CAN bus (ISO 11898) in automation technology.
The members in the EtherCAT Technology Group support the development of the EtherCAT fieldbus system. This open system is used by 650 member companies. In addition to being a member, Baumüller’s staff is represented in the executive board as well as in the expert committee on marketing.
The broad use of the advantages of digitally regulated drives in numerically controlled machines can only be realized via an appropriate standard interface to the NC.
The common interest group SERCOS interface e. V. (IGS) has dedicated itself to making this open digital interface accessible for communication between numeric controls and drives to all interested parties under the name SERCOS interface and to monitoring the international norm IEC 61491 / European norm EN 61491 and its compliance with the properties that correspond to the association mark attributes.
OMAC - Open Modular Architecture Controls - was founded as an international platform for the cooperation of end customers, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), technology providers and service providers and now has 600 members.
As a member in the area “Technology Providers and Integrators“, Baumüller has committed itself to the development, integration and support of OMAC-compliant systems and components.
Cluster Mechatronik & Automation e.V. (founded in 2005) is a platform and forum for the definition and implementation of measures that support the progress of mechatronics and the adjacent branches. Active communication between science and economy guarantees the high quality and safety of the developments and contributes to the growth of the economy.
The association offers its members and all interested parties valuable support in the conception, development and production in nearly all fields of mechatronics. In over 50 projects, the members have already completed the essential groundwork to expand the leading edge of the Bavarian industry even further through mechatronics. The various company locations of the participating partners in the areas around Munich, Nuremberg/Erlangen, Augsburg/Swabia and East Bavaria ensure that production companies throughout Bavaria have the opportunity to profit from the results of Cluster Mechatronik & Automation e.V.

The Bundesverband Industrie Kommunikation e.V. (Bvik) [Federal Association of Industry Communication], founded in 2010, is an independent organization for marketing managers in the industry and professionals in the B2B communication industry. The association has made it their goal to promote, improve and professionalize the cooperation between industry companies and communication service providers. bvik offers its members a platform for exchanging information, conveying knowledge and dialog. Members ranges from small and medium sized companies to global players. The basic idea at the center of the association’s work is: One association. One goal. Two perspectives.
The Safety Alliance, founded in 2012, is an association of automation manufacturers, technology and solution providers, specialists and service providers for functional safety technology. The aim of the Safety Alliance is to assist machine builders and operators in the effective and efficient planning, implementation and application of safety technology. Baumüller is active as a founding member and staff member are active in the association.
Founded in 2006, the Motion Control & Motor Association (MCMA) was developed to advance the global understanding and use of motion control and related automation technologies and to help the member companies and the industry grow. The employees of Baumüller are active in numerous committees.
