Baumüller offers a broad portfolio of solutions for the intelligent control of printing machinesBaumüller offers a broad portfolio of solutions for the intelligent control of printing machines

With the new drive-integrated b maXX PLC di, Baumüller implements highly synchronized motion control with short cycle times between the PLC and controller and enables smart monitoring without external sensors directly in the drive. Ideal for printing machines in combination with the new b maXX 6300 module system. This features even better scalability as well as additional safety features and smart Industry 4.0 functions. Maximum control quality and dynamics, as well as high power density, are required in printing machines – the ideal area of use for the space-saving b maXX 6300 module system. The new controllers are even more powerful than the current generation.

The new DSC2-Servomotors are the next generation for applications requiring high torque densities. Their low weight and small dimensions make them the series of choice. One of the reductions was in installed length, making the DSC2 significantly more compact while maintaining the same performance. In addition, the minimum cogging torque ensures precise positioning and high control quality. The advantage: The precision of the printing process is increased.

With its Smart Energy Monitoring software function, Baumüller now presents a solution for the intelligent energy monitoring of machines and systems according to the Ecodesign Directive. The software transparently measures energy use/consumption of individual production steps and compares this with a reference measurement. This allows energy-related changes in the production process to be identified and optimized.

The Smart Condition Monitoring software solution allows machine manufacturers to offer their clients condition monitoring without external sensors. The software is directly integrated in the servo-controller, making it easy to retrofit and update. Machine manufacturers thus have new options, such as offering runtime models for additional machine functions.

The right drive solutions for every application The right drive solutions for every application

The Web&foil software template for flexo printing machines is suitable for web processing machines in paper and film production, e.g. in film pouch, corrugated board, and folding carton machines. It saves users time-consuming programming work since, alongside motion modules, it also contains templates for functions such as alarm handling or prepared visualizations. For the machine manufacturer, this means a faster time-to-market and significantly reduced development costs. Basic functions such as recipe or error management are implemented. Machine-specific modules such as a winder/unwinder, tension control, and a register control are also integrated.

Digitalization is a good tool for efficiently exploiting the potential of drive technology. The digital twin enables optimum design of drive components and faster commissioning and drive optimization. This saves time and costs.
