Precision and Dynamics for Food and Packaging

At FachPack, Baumüller will introduce complete solution packages and industry-specific components

From September 25-27, Baumüller will exhibit systems, components and services dealing with the automation of packaging machines at FachPack 2018 in hall 3A at stand 206. The Nuremberg-based drive and automation expert is an experienced contact partner for mechanical engineers in the food and packaging sector with its wide offering, ranging from electric motors to complete machine automation, including software and service.etadriveWith its aseptic, completely-enclosed housing design, the ETA drive was developed specifically for packaging machines in the food and pharmaceutical sector

With its comprehensive portfolio, Baumüller realizes drive and automatization systems that easily meet the high requirements of the packaging industry with its short change intervals and the often fast start-stop operation.

Complete machine concepts from a single source

Whether it is just a handling unit or an entire packaging system, with their many years of experience in building packaging machines, Baumüller is the contact partner for developing new or optimizing existing machines. With Industry 4.0-capable components and systems as well as a variety of interfaces and the latest software tools, Baumüller offers solutions for networked machines and systems as well as smart factories.

Networking and process optimization

BAUDIS IoT is the Baumüller tool for diagnosing and optimizing processes and machines. It is designed for two application scenarios: one for reducing downtimes from unplanned service cases and one for optimizing processes and machine utilization. BAUDIS IoT records data through local sensors, e.g. on the drive or also by access to other electrical or mechanical components. The data can then be evaluated directly at the operator's location or can be transferred into the cloud.

Baumüller offers a solution for secure remote access to machines and systems with Ubiquity, one of the first software packages in industrial remote maintenance that has been certified according to 62443-3-3 and that therefore corresponds to the requirements of the basic protection catalog of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). With Ubiquity, Baumüller allows for a secure and simple access to machines around the world entirely without separate hardware.

Industry-Specific Hardware

Visitors to the trade fair stand this year can also find out about the wide range of Baumüller drive technology as well as services such as engineering, repairs, retrofits, complete life cycle management, etc.

With its new multi-axis controller B maXX 5800, B maXX is presenting a compact solution for the control of up to six drive axes. Combining several axes in one device not only saves the mechanical engineer space in the control cabinet, but there is also less wiring effort and significantly faster communication, since no separate fieldbus connections are necessary and the fieldbus dead times are thus eliminated. One special characteristic of the b maXX 5800 is that it can be configured completely individually. The user can select exactly the right axis performance for each individual axis, resulting in a device that meets exactly the requirements of the user’s application. The b maXX 5800 is a member of the established b maXX 5000 family, which includes stackable devices, but also powerful mono units. With optional safety packs, all devices in this series can be easily adapted to meet your individual safety needs.

The decentralized drive b maXX 2500 is particularly suitable for packaging machines and filling systems with many individual drives. This compact drive with integrated electronics is suitable for a power range up to about 6.5 kW and includes integrated safety technology. Thanks to a variety of supported fieldbus systems and flexibility in terms of its installation location, the b maXX 2500 offers mechanical engineers with a high degree of design freedom and allows for the realization of optimally adapted machine solutions.

The ETA drive is specifically adjusted to the requirements of packaging food and pharmaceutical products. This motor-transmission combination impresses with an aseptic, completely closed housing design and a very high degree of system efficiency.

In addition to industry-specific hardware, Baumüller can draw on extensive experience in the packaging and food industry to provide comprehensive expertise and numerous library modules that allow quick and easy programming of individual machine solutions.

Automation Valley Messetalk

“Opportunities of simulation and digital twins in the packaging industry” on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, in the TechBox forum in hall 3 at FachPack (trade fair center, 90471 Nuremberg).

Machines and even entire systems can be tested and optimized by using a digital twin, saving time and money. Experts from Baumüller Nürnberg GmbH, HEITEC AG,infoteam Software AG and Krones AG discuss and provide information about using digital twins in the packaging industry.

Messetalk will be carried out by Automation Valley Nordbayern (c/o Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nuremberg for Middle Franconia and Chamber of Commerce and Industry Regensburg for Upper Palatinate / Kehlheim) with the support of the Nuremberg Trade Fair.
